This blog illustrates the temporal trajectory of poverty policy in the United States and its consequences for Baltimore, MD, beginning with the Great Society programs in the 1960s and ending with the major reforms of 1996. Different arguments for and perspectives on these policies and their transformations are illustrated through the posts of the different actors: the academic, the federal government, the Baltimore City mayor, the non-profit organizations, and the single mother on welfare. Each provides a unique and insightful view on the formation, implementation, and effects of different poverty policies.
